Metropolitan Anthoniy (Pakanich) on the most mysterious psalm.

The 122st psalm is the most mysterious. It contains a kind of concentrate of wisdom. And in this wisdom is the highest justice of life.

The lines of the psalm allegorically speak of the foundations of the universe, the highest sense of being, the fate prepared for humanity.

The one who understood the messages encrypted in the psalm opens up a new world, unseen before.

«I was glad when they said to me, “Let us go to the house of the Lord!” Our feet have been standing within your gates, O Jerusalem!».

Jerusalem is the Heavenly Church, reigning in Heaven and established on earth. The Heavenly Church is a continuation of the Earthly Church. It takes the righteous into its arms during the transition.

Those living with God already on earth touch the Heavenly abode with their souls, the feet of those who love God are in Its vestibule. «And I, John, saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband» (Rev. 21:2).

«Jerusalem – built as a city that is bound firmly together».

Angels sing in all voices and trumpets of heaven blow: One is Holy, one is Lord Jesus Christ, to the glory of God the Father. Amen.

This wonderful chant is heard from all sides, and there is no end to it.

The place where the name of the Lord dwells, the city of the world, where God’s people live forever with God.

«And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Behold, the dwelling place of God is with man. He will dwell with them, and they will be his people, and God himself will be with them as their God.”» (Rev. 21:3).

«To which the tribes go up, the tribes of the Lord, as was decreed for Israel, to give thanks to the name of the Lord. There thrones for judgment were set, the thrones of the house of David».

All prophets and saints serve the Lord in His Kingdom, constantly converse with Him. God’s perfect economy is revealed to their eyes. God’s wisdom is spread everywhere. The new world is revealed in all its beauty.

«And he who was seated on the throne said, “Behold, I am making all things new.” Also he said, “Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.”» (Rev. 21:5).

«Pray for the peace of Jerusalem! “May they be secure who love you! Peace be within your walls and security within your towers!”».

Earthly life is a struggle, a field for competition, heavenly life is eternal peace, new birth, quenching of thirst for God.

«To the thirsty I will give from the spring of the water of life without payment» (Rev. 21:6).

«For my brothers and companions’ sake I will say, “Peace be within you!” For the sake of the house of the Lord our God, I will seek your good».

The saints achieve perfection when they become like God through the outpouring of their love and love for mankind in everything. When someone gains love, he/she puts on God Himself and inherits His kingdom.

«The one who conquers will have this heritage, and I will be his God and he will be my son» (Rev. 21:7).
