Murders in France. Why is this happening?

Metropolitan Anthony (Pakanich) on what is behind the terrorist attacks in France.

Another terrorist attack took place in France, during which (let’s be honest and call a spade a spade without hypocritical political correctness) an Islamic radical killed Christians.

The brutal barbaric murder with the beheading in the center of a seemingly prosperous European city shocked everyone. But is this the first such case? Four years ago, in the same way, Islamists came to a Catholic church during mass and stabbed a priest.

You can also recall the previous terrorist attacks in Paris in the Bataclan concert hall and in the same Nice, where about a hundred people died. These are just those episodes that immediately pop up in memory, although there are certainly many more of them.

And here an unpleasant conclusion suggests itself that the secular government of France during this time so didn’t understand and did nothing to change the situation.

Of course, the problem of radical Islam exists without regard to the policies of European leaders, but there are things that are difficult to dismiss. And it's not just about the specific migration policy of the European Union, and maybe not about politics at all.

Over the past decades, the French government systematically destroyed all the basic Christian values on which the traditional French culture was based. For the sake of the so-called «multiculturalism» and «inclusiveness» Christianity was increasingly oppressed and excluded from society. With Christianity, liberal rulers generally didn’t consider it necessary to stand on ceremony. Indeed, what can Christians do in response to systematic humiliation and defamation? Surely none of the Christians will cut off someone’s head shouting: «Christ is risen!». The picture itself is absurd and impossible. But with radical Islam such games end sadly. And the saddest thing is that not only their authors, but also innocent Christians very often pay for all the mocking cartoons in the low-grade press.

But what can liberalism oppose to religious extremism? An unrestrained right to offend the feelings of those who profess any religion? Consumer society? Exaltation of minorities to the detriment of their own cultural and moral norms? Same-sex «marriage»?

And what about the vaunted «multiculturalism» now? It is quite obvious that such things as religious fanaticism and moral licentiousness can never get along together. Liberalism drives itself into a dead end. But in many ways completely innocent people suffer.

In the old days, any tragedy, any crisis sobered people and turned them to God. But will the liberal European «intellectual elite», which has lost common sense and an elementary sense of self-preservation, return to God? And let none of us shrugs off what happened, saying that it’s done «with them» there. In the era of globalism, everything that is done «with them» will very soon be done «with us». All that remains for us is to pray and remain faithful to the Lord and enduring Christian values.
