THE METROPOLITAN ANTHONY (PACKANICH): IT’S IMPORTANT TO GET READY FOR THE EASTER DESPITE ALL OBSTACLES

No matter how clouds thicken above our heads, or which forecasts politicians and media make today, we need to remain humans to the last.

No one knows «times and dates». The history of humanity, including the national history, is replete with instances of turn-ups, dramatic turn of events. God has a lot of scenerios. What is required for us is an absolute trust to Him.

If something horrible happens, no doubt, it will be the smallest of the eventual and for our weal. It’s not a penalty, but it is an adjustment of the behavioral line from the perfect teacher, the surgeon, the loving Father.

One of the excellent examples for imitation is the family of the royal passion-bearers — the last emperor and his loved ones. Understanding full well what was prepared for them, they didn’t lose the human disguise, the «posture», till the last minute — children were doing homework, all members of the family continued to engage in their ordinary affairs, no one was drenched deep in sadness and rumblings. The grief only fastened them, they carefully supported each other. Even despite scant alimentation and caddish attitude to themselves, they didn't decay, they went all the way honorably.

What can we especially learn from this example of the family of the royal passion-bearers?

We have to fulfill our commitments till the last. Not to stand down, not to leave the service which the Lord has determined to each of us. To do all our common things. Not to fall into panic and hysteria.

We have no idea about our last minute. We don’t know how our day will end up. It's not up to us. But it’s definitely that the trust to God depends on us. The belief that He looks out for us every second like no-one else. He does everything in the best, what each of us could see more than once.

The sooner the Feast of Feasts — the Easter — the closer the clouds above the horizon. We, christians, call it temptation. Let’s not give in, let’s not fall in sadness, and concentrate on the days to come — the memories of Christ’s suffers. Let’s get ready for the honor celebrating of His Bright Resurrection.

Let’s put our trust in God to spread clouds over our heads. And we will do our parts: show mercy for neighbor, soften our hearts, be merciful and sympathetic; let’s not squabble and spread panic.

Let’s be more careful and tolerable to each other in the end of the lent. And God seeing our small sacrifice will repay a thousandfold.
